The flight line at any airport is one of the most exciting places.
Stand on the flight line and see planes landing, taking off, doing
engine run-ups and loading for those long flights to distant points.
Then there are those lines of interesting aircraft parked right in
front of you for a close up view.
New
airplanes are what Sport Aviator’s “On The Flight Line”
column is all about. On The Flight Line will feature kits and ARFs
designed for the for the new pilot looking for that perfect airplane.
While articles in this column are traditional “kit reviews”,
the emphasis is always on their suitability for student or newer
pilots.
On The Fight
Line articles check each airplane’s building ease, minimum
tool requirements and potentially difficult areas. Most importantly,
this column investigates each plane’s flying performance and
abilities in as much depth as possible. Building is important, but
flying is the reason we are in this sport.
This section is divided into Four categories. Basic Trainers are designed to introduce the new pilot to the world of RC flight. Advanced Trainers can function as Basic Trainers, but are better suited as a new RC pilot's second aircraft. Sport Aircraft are true second or third aircraft designed for general sport flying but with flight characteristics that permit even newer pilots to feel comfortable while exploring the realms of advanced aerobatics. The Hall of Fame features reviews of aircraft no longer available from the manufacturer but that can still be found in swap shops and private sales.
