GENERAL NOTE: If you use a TV and DVD player, or a PC to watch this DVD, you have several “navigation” options. Depending upon your DVD or PC functionality the use of a DVD lets you go directly to chosen scenes or skip though to the desired items/scenes. A DVD lets you freeze-frame with excellent screen clarity and also vary the play speed for more detailed examination of the subjects.

The 2006 Skymasters Midwest Regional Float Fly celebrates their 16th year with TONS of FLOAT PLANE ACTION! Features include John de Young who brought along his awesome Piper Cub and Ed Grieshaber who stole the show with his PBM Mariner twin seaplane. Also included are some unusual aircraft that are not normally seen on floats. Aircraft like David Shea's Gremlin, Pat McGhee's Fly Baby and Roberto de Silva's Dirty Birdy (a Precision Aerobatic aircraft from the late 1970's). This program includes many scale and sport airplanes perfect for entertaining any float plane enthusiast or anyone interested in this unique aspect of RC model flying. The video’s Run Time is 79 Minutes.

There are 25 chapters to choose from in this DVD. Each one contains an interesting aspect of flying a remote controlled airplane using water as the runway!

Floats are what this DVD is all about. If it floats and can be flown, it is included in this SKS Video Productions DVD of the 2006 Skymasters Midwest Regional Float Fly. This event is also a wonderful display for the general public. The DVD permits you to also show your friends this fascinating dimension of the hobby.

Although the video uses the name “Float Fly” it covers airplanes with floats and flying boats. The first being a regular land-airplane that uses flotation devices to take off and land. The Flying Boat is an airplane with a fuselage that also doubles as the hull of a boat.

Oliver Fuchs from Stuttgart, Germany converted his Hanger-9 Ultra-Stick 40 to use floats. He uses an HB 61 engine for additional power off the water. The aircraft features flaps for slow flying and extra lift during the landing cycle. The Ultra-Stick is a fully aerobatic airplane that is not hindered at all by the additional drag and weight of the floats.

Pat Maghee from Kansas upgraded his 40-sized U-CAN-DO-3D with a 70-sized OS 4-stroke and a 14” prop for water-flying. This is a very good looking airplane both on the surface and in the air. The U-Can-Do-3D is famous for its 3D flight ability (flight at very high angles of attack including vertical) and low cost. The floats don’t seem to hinder its performance at all.

Steve Fredericks shows us a more scale-looking float airplane pulled by a YS 1.20 supercharged, high-performance 4-stroke engine. It looks real in the air and flies realistically. But he never tells us what it is. Do you know?
