The N.E.A.T. Fair 2006: Every year R/C pilots from around the nation gather together at a quiet little campground deep in New York’s Catskill Mountains. The Northeast Electric Aircraft Technology Fair (N.E.A.T. for short) is one of the country's premiere R/C electric aircraft events.
This year there were many great achievements made in electric-power modeling history made at trhe N.E.A.T. Fair. And this video has them all.
Keith Shaw modeled two exquisite aircraft - the Bugatti and the Czechmate - both of which are modeling masterpieces. Steven Stratt built an incredibly scale Fokker D8 which flew gracefully against the hillside.
The antics of the T-Rexx Helicopters (definitely not for beginners) were performed by John Willis and Eric Gray - showing how electric helicopter flight has evolved through the years. Witness the record breaking flight piloted by Martin Newell - an R/C airplane weighing in at under 1 gram! Everything from Auto Gyros to Flying Lampshades rounds off this year’s production.
And all of it was included in this 96 minute, high quality DVD. The DVD covers both the outdoor N.E.A.T. Fair activities and the very special indoor flights as well.
GENERAL NOTE: If you use a TV and DVD player, or a PC to watch this DVD, you have several “navigation” options. Depending upon your DVD or PC functionality the use of a DVD lets you go directly to chosen scenes or skip though to the desired items/scenes. A DVD lets you freeze-frame with excellent screen clarity and also vary the play speed for more detailed examination of the subjects.
Please keep in mind that the photos shown in this review were actual photographs taken of the video screen. The pictures were not “ripped” from the video. Therefore, they may not be as sharp and clear as is the DVD picture. The video quality in this DVD is excitingly clear and brings out all the details of each aircraft.

There is a lot of material in this DVD. It contains 42 scenes or chapters for you to choose from. The photographs below will show you a sample of what is in store for you in this SKA production.
It is really two DVDs in one. The first part (Chapters 1-30) covers outdoor electric flying and the second part (Chapters 31-42) contains some really fascinating indoor flying of some very, very small RC airplanes.

Bob Keibley, from Middletown NJ, with his F-14 Tomcat shows the viability of a high performance electric reproduction of a jet aircraft. His F-14 uses an electric swing-wing to further replicate the Tomcat.

On the other end of technical sophistication, Don Bousquet shows the slow flying replica of a WWI bomber that gently cruises around the NY state sky. The bomber is not as flashy as the F-14 but then it is a lot more relaxing to fly and to watch.

Marc Thomson from Canada brought his Westland high-altitude twin fighter from WW II. Not to be confused with the DH Mosquito or the Westland Whirlwind. Marc’s airplane uses two Hyperion electric motors and a single 8000 mAh Lithium Polymer (Li-Poly) battery pack to energize the motors. The propellers are a huge 16 inch diameter with a 12.3 inch pitch (16 x 12.3). These propellers easily pull the 23 lb, 96 inch wingspan, fighter around the New York skies.

Kevin Morse shows a beautiful ME 262 with powerful electric ducted fans. The lack of external propellers completes the realistic look of this model in the air.
